As I understand it, the N'orange was the orginal name and the colour was named AFTERwards due to the colour of the N'orange fruit.
Hence why a robin red breast is called a red breast despite being orange chested as there was no word for orange when it was named

You'll find red bananas in parts of South India. Small and very sweet. Some people reckon they're the best bananas in the world. I can't tell the difference, apart from the sweetness.

I understand the issue is that those that are not are not suitable for commercial production. They're bananas Jim but nut as we know it - the rather small, stumpy ones that you might see in local markets in Asia.
